ANTIQUE IZNIK ALBARELLO #1

Rare, early 19th century. It’s named being derived from the town it was made in Western Anatolia. This was the Ottoman Empires Pottery makers. ( Their is a really neat store in Turkey that has an extensive collection, in fact they have a face book page that brags of the royalty and elite that visit and shop there. If I were a betting woman I would say that’s where these were originally purchased and then brought into the USA) The bodies is highly glazed, minus the collar and the base. The surface covered in fine crackles. I would say they need cleaned but no way was I ever going to do it! lol they are stamped not for food use, May poison food. OBVIOUSLY MUCH LATER THAN THE DATE OF ITS CREATION! Each handle has a steel ring in the mouth of Lion Heads. 6.5” across and 7.5” tall. PHOTOS DON’T DO IT JUSTICE!!!
